Darkroom Workshop in Issaquah, Washington

This workshop will emphasize how to recognize and make fine art black and white prints. The course will include critiques of student portfolios, field assignments and lots of supervised darkroom time.

Darkroom techniques which are found in Steve’s three best selling books will be emphasized. These may include developer selection for both film and paper, manipulating developers for critical control, making warm tone prints, and using toners. You will learn how to read test strips, use printing controls, test new materials, make straight and interpretive prints, archivally process prints, and the proper method for print presentation.

Participants should bring a portfolio of prints and corresponding negatives. All levels of skill, from beginning to advanced, are invited to participate.

This workshop is sponsored by the Cascades Academy of Photography.
